After years of dealing with issues caused by commercial float-tubes, I decided to design my own, eliminating the bad characteristics and incorporating the good. My new float-tube has been a huge success, and now I set my sights on another problem area: The gas-block! I approached the gas-block design with the same set of goals I used while designing the float-tube: Get rid of the bad elements, and bring in the desired ones.
I started out with the .936" diameter block. The first design is very robust, and a great gas-block, but it just wouldn't quite give enough clearance under a standard float-tube to reliably "free-float". The second design was perfect, and I now have them in three manifold sizes: .936", .875" and .750" and all will give you a true free-float under a standard float-tube.
The blocks are a “clamp-on” design, and utilize three cap-head screws to secure them. This block develops a much better gas-seal between the barrel and block than conventional blocks.
